Here is what teachers have been telling us about their favorite teaching tricks using Mathletics:
“I like to assign skill quests at the beginning of the week so that students have more time to complete them. I choose one that ties in with what we're learning in our math instruction for that week. If I feel that students need more practice with past lessons, I like to use them as review as well. I assign courses (activities) later in the week, because they're easier for students to complete” -Susan W., Manitoba Canada
"I think math should have a bit of “Magic” involved with it. So every time I teach a math class (at least 4th and up since their are some prerequisite skills) I do this trick…
(1) Pick two whole numbers from 0-9 (they can be the same or different)
(2) Take the 1st number and multiply it by 2
(3) Take the total above and add 5
(4) Take the total above and multiply it by 5
(5) Take the total above and add the second number you had picked in the original step
DM me whatever your total is and I’ll be able to tell the first two numbers you picked when you started!
Kids love this activity because I spin it as my reading their minds."
