Recognizing students' accomplishments in Mathletics serves as a powerful motivator, inspiring them to engage in more practice. With each additional session, you'll observe a boost in their confidence and noticeable progress in mastering mathematics. Encouraging them to strive for a minimum of 1000 points per week towards earning their weekly certificates incentivises consistent effort.

Many schools print and hand out the certificates, either in class or in assemblies. The new certificates are available in low-ink ‘printer-friendly’ versions. Some schools select to print 2 or 4 certificates on one page for the lower certificate ranks and then move to A4 page certificates for students reaching the higher-ranking certificate levels. At the Epic and Legend level, some schools laminate or even frame certificates to acknowledge the time and effort put into achieving them, as it takes more than 30 weeks of dedicated work in Mathletics.

Mathletics can provide your school with additional Mathletics collateral such as pencils, wristbands and trophies. Additional printable blank certificates are also available. These make ideal rewards for school competitions, which are easy to set up and track when based on points and/or certificates earned, at an individual, group or class level. Where schools have additional reward systems such as house points, teachers reward a point for each 1000 points their students achieve on Mathletics. Linking their school reward system to Mathletics achievements helps to further motivate students to earn points beyond 1000.

With Mathletics set at the correct level for students across the school, it is a realistic expectation to encourage all students to aim for a weekly certificate. The exceptions may be students with specific barriers to learning and students with restricted access to the internet. To ensure that these students feel part of your Mathletics celebrations, we suggest you use the editable blank certificates and create rewards occasionally to include them. For example, these can be based on Mathletics printable worksheets completed, improvement in a specific activity or score on a Live Mathletics level. Many schools also provide Mathletics clubs at lunchtime or after-school, and encourage students with limited access to Mathletics at home to attend.

How to identify students/classes for a celebration of their Mathletics achievements

At a whole-school level  

1. Log in with the Mathletics Subscription Co-ordinators log in.  
   
2. Access Admin Reports from the left-hand menu.
   
3. Click into the Student Report tab.
   
4. From the drop-down menu, use the filters to select the time frame and which students you want to view the points achieved by. Select the double arrow next to ‘Total Points’ to put the points in order. 
   
   
    
5. The tabs along the bottom of the screen enable quick selection to show the data for all Year groups, Classes or the Top 10 Students.  
   

Top Tip:  

Throughout the year, some of our top Mathletics schools recognise their Top 10 Students. These students are awarded special certificates or rewards, feeding their achievements into the school's reward system. Then at the end of the academic year, they present a special award to the Top 10 students over the complete academic year.  

To access and print New Certificates for the whole school:

1. Log in with the school’s Mathletics administrator login.  
2. Access Admin Reports.  
   
3. Click on the Certificates Tab.
   
4. To print certificates achieved by the whole school, select All Classes, All groups, and the required time frame.  
   
   

Each level of certificates can be selected and downloaded ready to print.

1. Certificates can also be downloaded and printed by selecting a class level. 
    
2. Click Download at the bottom right-hand corner and select Full Colour or the Print-Friendly option.  

Top Tip: We have found that the schools with the most enthusiastic Mathletes hand out certificates regularly – most presenting them in class or assemblies each week. Alternatively, the drop-down menu enables you to select specific time frames such as a half-term.  

Reminder: Points reset on a Sunday night. Certificates are achieved for the week starting from Monday morning through to Sunday night. Many schools present certificates for the previously completed Mathletics week.

Rewarding Mathletics Achievement at a class level  

1. On the teacher console, select Reports from the left-hand menu and then the Student Report tab.
   
   
2. From the drop-down menu along the top, select the appropriate class and group/all groups, and Participation, and set the time period required.  
   
   1. Note: Points are reset on a Sunday night, and certificates and points run from Monday through to Sunday. If your reward celebration is for instance on a Wednesday, it is best to celebrate the points/certificates achieved in the previous week.  
3. Use the points toggle to order students by points achieved.  

Tips from Teachers across the globe: Some teachers organise a Mathlete of the Week event – this is often based on the highest total points achieved. Sometimes it will be the same students that appear at the top of the list each week, and the teacher may be aware of some of the class not having the same level of access available. In these cases, they can adjust criteria each week to ensure more children get a chance to be the class Mathlete. For example, you can use Live points or an increase in points between weeks.  

Teachers also celebrate their Mathlete of the Week in different ways – some let this student lead the class line into an assembly, have them doing special tasks in maths lessons, being first out to play, choose a friend to sit next to… the options are endless and dependent on the age of the students and what they deem to be a special treat.  

4. Print certificates for your class.  

We recommend that certificates are printed at a whole-school level, using the Mathletics admin log-in, to ensure that everyone across the school receives their certificates – but certificates can also be printed by individual teachers from the teacher console. To do so:

1. Go to the Report area.
   
2. Select the Certificate tab.  
   
3. Using the drop-down menu, select the class, groups and date span.
   

Certificates can be downloaded by type, or by student/all students and can be printed in full colour or a printer-friendly version.
